To provide all participants with a safer, accessible, and enjoyable experience, Game Research Days 2026 subscribes to safer space principles promoting inclusion and equity. These extend to all conference interactions within and outside the venue, including the social programme. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and other forms of misconduct. All conference participants are expected to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Be respectful and mindful of your fellow conference participants. We come from diverse backgrounds and have different lived experiences. Avoid discriminatory language and assumptions based on individual aspects such as name or appearance. Respect each other’s preferred name and pronouns, visible on their name tag. Avoid unnecessary gendered language (e.g. use “Dear audience” instead of “Ladies and gentlemen”).
- Ask for consent before sharing any photos or information about conference participants or their presentations publicly (e.g. on social media).
- Be collegial and mindful of your speech and your behaviour. This includes being generous and patient in questions and discussions, listening to others and being careful not to dominate discussions, and being aware of your own privilege(s) and humbly accepting respectful corrections (or humbly correcting yourself).
- Should you encounter any inappropriate behaviour, please report it immediately to the conference organisers. We also have trained harassment contact persons you may contact if you encounter harassment. See below for contact information.
- Make your presentation accessible. If presenting, follow the presenter instructions to ensure your presentation can be enjoyed by all participants.

This code of conduct is built on the principles outlined in the DiGRA code of conduct and has been revised by the organisers of the Tampere University Game Research Lab spring seminars during 2021–2025 and Nordic DiGRA 2025. The organising committee adapted it for Game Research Days 2026.
